The church retains the original boxed pews, which are used to display hand embroidered kneelers. The pulpit and a nearby stained glass window are commissioned war memorials from WW1.

The north door is Norman, as are all the arches between the nave and chancel and the north aisle. Beautiful stained glass in the East and Skepper windows. Remembrance books and links with the RAF Squadrons within the Lady Chapel.

Corringham • St Laurence

A church has stood on this site for over 1,000 years.

In the late 19th century under the influence of the Oxford Movement two sisters; Mary Beckett and Elizabeth, Lady Bacon engaged G F Bodley and Thomas Garner to both restore and recapture the ‘beauty of holiness’, a glimpse of heaven! These two architects scattered gold dust and raised this church to great heights.

The church contains stained glass by Wailes Kempe and Christopher Whall.

The Lady Chapel has been given over to Community Outreach, increasing footfall and funds to upkeep this Grade I listed church.

With a reputation for serving high quality light refreshments and lunches a warm welcome awaits you.

St Mary’s is an arts and crafts Church designed by the architect Temple Moore. The church within has many interesting features including the pillars in the central arcade dividing the church in two lengthways. The church is visited by many people who come to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere here surrounded by beautiful rolling wolds.

Thoresway - St Mary

St Mary’s nestles is a sleepy village among fields of sheep. It has a Romanesque arch from an original tower, 13th century arcades in the nave and seven floor stones dating from an earlier period. There is an exhibition on the history and origins of the village together with stories of local residents and their lives. A warm welcome awaits those who come to sample our homemade cakes and savouries, including our popular gluten free and vegetarian offerings.

Snelland - All Saints

Snelland All Saints - Ashley Taylor for the National Churches Trust

This beautiful atmospheric church dates back to the 12th century. It contains beautiful carved stone medieval faces and a rare ‘Leper’s window’ that enabled succour to be passed to those with leprosy who had to stay outside the church. Ancient sundial on south elevation. Thomas Retford, vicar, courageously gave his life in the Lincolnshire Rising.

Searby cum Owmby - St Nicholas

Situated in a picturesque setting on a mound within the village of Searby, St Nicholas’ was built in 1832 on the foundations of the original Saxon church which was damaged by fire. The interior is notable for the woodcarving of the Reverend Townsend, vicar from 1845 to 1889. His work included the pews with carvings on their ends depicting the tribes of Israel and the Apostles. The organ was built by F. Cousans of Lincoln and first played on Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee in 1887. The church bells are rung using an Ellacombe Apparatus a device developed in 1821 by Reverend Henry Thomas Ellacombe enabling one person to ring all five bells.

St Oswald’s is surrounded by a deserted medieval village site. Inside is a surprising number of notable monuments, both in brass and stone, dating from the 14th - 16th century. Outstanding is a rare coped stone coffin lid, believed to date from between the 10th and 12th centuries. Information on church history, brass rubbing, cake stall.

Our church nested in a valley at the foot of the Wolds on the Viking Way retains its Saxon origin and has a notable tower.

A warm welcome awaits everyone at St Peter’s and St Paul’s. Through the south entrance door, a splendid example of Norman work with three bands of mouldings of continuous motif, an inner zigzag, a middle band of crenellation and an outer band of beakheads. It is among the country’s most impressive Norman doorways. Displays this will focus on “nursery rhymes”. Various homemade soups, bread rolls, tea, coffee, cold drinks and biscuits will be served both days.

Market Rasen - Methodist Church

Saturday morning we will be holding our spring fayre as part of the festival. Our chapel opened in 1863 is an impressive Grade II* listed building with door pews, balcony, large front pillars and a ‘wow‘ factor. Light lunches will be available on Saturday between 11am-1.30pm and Sunday after the service.

Langton by Wragby - St Giles

Langton by Wragby is famous as the birthplace of Stephen Langton who was Archbishop of Canterbury and the principal architect of Magna Carta. There is a stained glass window dedicated to him in the church. There will be displays in the church on Stephen Langton, Magna Carta and local history.

The Stephen Langton Trail

The new Stephen Langton Trail that passes through or near six festival churches where you can stop for refreshments, including

A 16.5 mile walking trail from the birthplace of Archbishop Stephen Langton, key in the sealing of Magna Carta, to the historic city of Lincoln.

The Stephen Langton Trail starts at the Lincolnshire village of Langton-by-Wragby, birthplace of Archbishop Stephen Langton, and takes a meandering and picturesuqe 16.5 mile walk to historic Lincoln and Lincoln Castle, home to an original copy of the 1215 Magna Carta.

The trail is split into three sections to allow for all abilities and so the walk can be split up over a space of time:

Section One leads from Langton-by-Wragby to Apley through the Lincolnshire Limewood Nature Reserve (4 miles)

Section Two from Thistle Storr Wood near Apley to Fiskerton along the Viking Way (6¼ miles)

Section Three follows the River Witham Valley from Fiskerton on a delightful riverside walk to Lincoln's Cathedral Quarter (6¼ miles).

Great Limber - St Peter

St Peter’s is a Grade I listed building is situated within the conservation area of Great Limber. First built in the 12th century there have been several additions and alterations over the years. IN the churchyard, there are Commonwealth Graves, and the Community Orchard stands adjacent to the grounds. The lychgate built in 1912 is the main entrance to the churchyard. To the west of the building is a square tower with a battlement parapet.
