A church has stood on this site for over 1,000 years.
In the late 19th century
under the influence of the Oxford Movement two sisters; Mary Beckett and
Elizabeth, Lady Bacon engaged G F Bodley and Thomas Garner to both
restore and recapture the ‘beauty of holiness’, a glimpse of heaven! These
two architects scattered gold dust and raised this church to great heights.
The
church contains stained glass by Wailes Kempe and Christopher Whall.
The
Lady Chapel has been given over to Community Outreach, increasing footfall
and funds to upkeep this Grade I listed church.
With a reputation for serving
high quality light refreshments and lunches a warm welcome awaits you.
