Bishop Norton - St Peter



Bishop Norton St Peter*


A Grade II* listed St Peter’s sits in the heart of the village. It has three bells and a delightful stained glass East Window. There is a medieval tympanum in the tower wall, an ancient sarcophagus, a Joyce of Whitchurch clock and a 150 year old Nicholson organ. The lychgate is our War Memorial. Our theme is ‘Hobbies + Pursuits’.  Plant stall and book stall.

This fine Victorian church has a gallery, a rare organ, a medieval stoup and a fascinating bell tower including 15th century bells. Fine stained glass windows depict ‘Faith, Hope and Charity.’

Stainfield - St Andrew

Rededicated in 1711, this beautiful Queen Anne church is thought to be built to a design by Christopher Wren, sits on the site of a former Benedictine nunnery, surrounded by parkland.  View the original 18th century Tyrwhitt tapestries on display in the church, read about the nunnery, the legend of the Wild Man and its place in early village history.  Homemade cakes, lunches, and afternoon teas available at Hill House all weekend.

Snelland - All Saints

This beautiful atmospheric church dates back to the 12th century. It contains beautiful carved stone medieval faces and a rare ‘Leper’s window’ that enabled succour to be passed to those with leprosy who had to stay outside the church. Ancient sundial on south elevation. Thomas Retford, vicar, courageously gave his life in the Lincolnshire Rising.

Rand - St Oswald

St Oswald’s is surrounded by a deserted medieval village site. Inside is a surprising number of notable monuments, both in brass and stone, dating from the 14th - 16th century. Outstanding is a rare coped stone coffin lid, believed to date from between the 10th and 12th centuries. Information on church history, brass rubbing, cake stall.

Middle Rasen - St Peter and St Paul

A warm welcome awaits everyone at St Peter’s and St Paul’s. Through the south entrance door, a splendid example of Norman work with three bands of mouldings of continuous motif, an inner zigzag, a middle band of crenellation and an outer band of beakheads. It is among the country’s most impressive Norman doorways. Displays this will focus on “nursery rhymes”. Various homemade soups, bread rolls, tea, coffee, cold drinks and biscuits will be served both days.

Saturday morning we will be holding our spring fayre as part of the festival. Our chapel opened in 1863 is an impressive Grade II* listed building with door pews, balcony, large front pillars and a ‘wow‘ factor. Light lunches will be available on Saturday between 11am-1.30pm and Sunday after the service.

We have a connection with the RAF Faldingworth Polish Squadron from WWII. We have a wonderful stained glass window and porch gates dedicated to the 300 Squadron.

East Barkwith - St Mary

Come & celebrate what we have done, enjoy coffee & cake in our new seating area, the church tower has been enhanced to contain a servery and a new disabled access WC has been added sympathetically to the church. But the beauty of the 14th century restored church remains set in an oasis of peace. The font is decorated with instruments of The Passion, the pulpit is metal in the arts & crafts style, made by Christopher Turner. There are fragments of early glass & a 20th century window by Edward Payne.

Caistor Methodist Church strives to be an inclusive church that welcomes everyone.  The weekend will be a hive of activity including an exhibition in the church based on the theme “I am a new creation”. lunches served in the school room on Saturday in aid of Christian Aid and Caistor Go2 Repair CafĂ© on Saturday.

Cabourne - St Nicholas

Cabourne St Nicholas is of Saxon Foundation. Saxon features are Tower, grave markers & font. A Norman doorway is on the North Side. The Tower door has been extensively repaired, and a new key made for the Victorian lock. The floor is of Muhuhu wood and was laid in the 1960s. Our exhibition is Lincolnshire Past, Church Registers and Lincoln Longwool Sheep, which brought so much wealth to the county.

Bardney - St Lawrence



St Lawrence, Bardney (Ashley Taylor for The National Churches Trust)

There is an exhibition of stones which were exhumed from Bardney Abbey in the early 1900s. The chancel is decorated with pictures of saints. There are also some 17th century charity boards. The church has connections with the RAF’s 9th Squadron. There has recently been a stained glass window dedicated to them. Organist Paul Savage 2pm3pm both days.  Huge plant stall, a tombola and craft stall.
